Writing weekend.

So I've made the most I can of the bank holiday and got down to some serious writing, I'm up to 16,000 words typed up and I did another 10 pages of hand written work yesterday afternoon so with any luck that's another 2,000 words.

I had vowed to write this book directly into the computer after writing the entirety of the previous one by hand but I just find that there are far too many distractions on the computer. The difference is this time I'm trying to keep up with typing the work up as I go along rather than doing the whole thing once I've finished.

I'm hoping to hit the 20,000 mark at least by the end of today so that I can return to work happy. Hope you've all had a great bank holiday, did you get up to anything nice?

New Novel

Hey all!

Sorry for the two months absence, work's been a bit busier so haven't had as much spare time. I have however began a new writing project that I've had in mind for a while now, I'm fairly excited about it and have began writing, it's a futuristic/post-apocalyptic YA novel. So far I've written just over 12,725 words and am loving where it's all going!

The general gist of the book:

It's 2035 and sixteen year old Lyna believed nothing worse could happen after society fell apart but then her dad's murdered. Whilst battling with grief, anger and a surprising new love her strength shines through as she fights to take down those responsible.

So I will keep you posted on how it's going, I've put a little progress bar at the bottom of the page jut for a little fun and to keep track of how it's all going.

Now I'm off to get on with it and stop procrastinating! :)

Getting on with work

Sorry for the silence over the last couple of days believe it or not I've actually been getting on with some work. I've spent the last few days trying to decide who to send my manuscript to, I've been looking through the list of agents trying to figure out who would be most suitable and who I would like to represent my work, so an interesting few days.

I have also been in work for a few extra hours as the cafe owners little boy hasn't been too well, and I got my hair cut yesterday, it's quite a bit different it's gone from shoulder length to short but I like it :)

So that's my random few days, now I'm off to polish up my covering letter and synopsis ready for dispatch to agents, wish me luck!

A Gaming Day

So I've been very naughty today and probably avoided doing everything I was meant to do, I have spent all day playing World of Warcraft. I admit it is one of my favorite ways of avoiding doing anything useful like writing and other work but we've all got to relax once in a while haven't we?

Okay so maybe playing World of Warcraft for eight hours straight is rather a long time but it was good fun! :) Even though I haven't managed to do any more writing today I have managed to level my dwarf paladin character another 20 levels, my head is feeling a little strange now after staring at the screen for so long so I'm afraid I'll leave today's update at that and go find some dinner.

Hope you have all had a good weekend and are feeling nicely refreshed for a new week at work.

Postmen

I was really looking forward to a little bit of a lie-in today, I had set the alarms a little later to make sure I was still up in plenty of time for work, but it was obviously not meant to be. Our posties have a very sick sense of humor, during the week they tend to turn up around nine maybe a little later, but on weekends oh no they are guaranteed to be early, so this morning the lie-in got interrupted by a knock at the door. However, by the time I had made it downstairs to the front door he had vanished, our normal post was on the door mat, but nothing else no note for a package so I am still unsure why he even knocked on the door and here I am now up at the usual time.

Oh well I might as well make the most of the extra time to get on with some stuff before work.

Cafe Work

Well I went and did my two and a half hours at the cafe today, still feels strange working part time instead of full time. I swear I used to get more done when I worked 9am until 5.30 pm, I just don't seem to be able to settle down to anything properly by doing lunchtimes. Never mind though, at the moment it is helping to pay the bills. I did manage to do a little bit of editing on one of my writing projects when I realized I couldn't really get away with playing about on the new blog any longer. :)

Was thinking I'd try and do some more editing this evening but first I need to go peel some spuds for sausage and mash tonight, yum pork, jalapeƱo and coriander sausages yes please! The problem is I find that once I've cooked and eaten it's difficult to get my mind back onto work and I usually end up watching a film instead. I am proud to announce that after many years I finally got around to watching the first two Jurassic Park films, I have no idea how I avoided the experience for so long but it was a good giggle for the evening.

I'm off to the kitchen now in search of the illusive peeler, with my pint of London Pride ale which should aid the cooking process!

Enjoy your Friday night all, I hope you have a good one.

The Art of Procrastinating

I have to admit I must be one of the worlds best procrastinators, upon deciding to begin this blog to report on my most recent forms of procrastination I proceeded to spend an hour choosing a background picture, design and fonts that I liked. I honestly couldn't tell you how many times I must have changed them all not being quite happy each time. But finally here is the layout I've settled on, well settled on for now until I need to avoid doing something else!

So my fellow procrastinators, tell me, what is your favorite form of procrastination?
